VISA TYPES

The process begins with what is called a ‘work permit’ from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).The company/organization that has hired the employee has to bring him/her in on this permit/employment entry first, following which they will convert it into a residency visa.

The work permit allows the holder to enter the UAE for employment, and it is valid for two months from the date of issue.

After the employee enters the UAE on the basis of the work permit, the sponsoring company arranges to complete the formalities of medical testing, obtaining UAE Resident Identity (Emirates ID) Card, Labour Card and stamping the UAE Residency Visa on his passport within a scope of 60 days.

The UAE Residency Visa on the employee’s passport denotes that he is sponsored by the company he is employed by. All costs for the Work Permit, medical testing, Emirates ID and UAE Residency Visa are borne by the employer. After the employee receives a visa, he/she can sponsor his/her family members and bring them into the country.

An investor visa is a type of visa which is provided for those, who open new companies in the country or those, who buy a real estate property in the country. By obtaining the Investors’ visa in the UAE the applicant will have the right to reside and do business in the country.

To obtain the investor’s visa in the UAE, the applicant must either invest at least AED70.000 (Seventy thousand Dirhams)  in the economy of the country, for example, by opening a company in one of the free economic zones or buying real estate in the UAE.

Residence visa in the UAE is issued for 3 years, after which the Applicant can extend it an unlimited number of times. Physically, a resident UAE visa is a sticker in the passport. In addition to it, the Emirates ID card (or Resident ID) is also issued, which provides basic information about its owner. This card is valid in the territory of all Emirates and can be used inside the country instead of a passport. To save the residence permit, it is sufficient to enter the Emirates once every six months. The violation of this rule entails the blocking of this document, and in order to receive it again, you will have to undergo a procedure for its restoration.

As for the Dubai property investment visa, the rules for getting this document are very simple and understandable. A foreigner who wishes to receive a property investment visa in Dubai must buy here a property with the price of more than AED1.000.000 (One Million Dirhams)  and after that submit an appropriate application for a residence permit in Dubai.

Family or Sponsor Visa:

Expatriate residents, both employers and employees, may sponsor their families in the UAE provided they have a valid residency permit.

Male residents who are employed in the UAE can sponsor their immediate family members, such as wife and children, subject to conditions which include minimum salary of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 plus accommodation.

A resident sponsor has 60 days to apply for his dependents’ residence visa after they enter the UAE and modify their status from an entry permit holder to a residence visa holder.

Family members are issued visas for one, two or three years depending on the nature of the work and labour contract of the sponsoring member and his capacity as an employee or employer.

Visit or Tourist Visa:

Tourist visa is for those who are not eligible for visa on arrival or a visa-free entry to the UAE. Tourist visa can be obtained for eligible individual tourists from around the world.
